CONSERVATORY Photo GaLLERY
We love watching dancers grow and sharing the joy of dance with our community.
To celebrate our dancers and document the evolution of The Conservatory over time, we offer photoshoots at least twice per year, in addition to the photos we capture at the community events we take part in. Photoshoots are free to all community members, and we are grateful to the dancers, families and photographers who so generously share their time and talents to ensure that all who wish to take part are included. Have a look to see a sample of some of our amazing adventures!
Conservatory Senior Summer Photoshoot, 2022
Inspired by the four elements, our senior dancers chose to embody Fireworks and Crystals in their performances for our 2022 gala, In Harmony. Wanting to share their brilliance and magic with the community, we captured them amidst the rich art and architecture of the Queen's University campus and its breathtaking grounds.

In Harmony Butterfly Photoshoot, 2022
In 2022 we returned to the stage for an emotional and uplifting celebration of dance with our gala performance of In Harmony. Watching our dancers emerge like butterflies from their cocoons was absolutely glorious, and we chose to represent this triumph of spirit with images of our beautiful Ballet I butterflies, floating through Kingston's gorgeous City Park.

Fall Photoshoot, 2021
When our June, 2021 gala performance of Ad Astra had to be rescheduled to a filmed, masked performance in the fall, we took to the outdoors to safely capture the glory of dancers of all ages. Just like the constellations that inspire us, dancers can share stories and connect across time and space.

Paint the Town, 2021
Conservatory dancers were generously invited by the Kingston School of Art to model for their annual plein air creation event, Paint the Town. We had a wonderful time collaborating with community artists, and our dancers were fantastic ambassadors! Special thanks to Christianne Wojcik Hosier for the invitation and organizing this lovely event, and to Viara Mileva for so generously sharing her stunning photos, many of which are included in the slideshow below.

Conservatory Graduate Photoshoot, 2021
Our 2021 graduates were a group of remarkable, resilient, generous and kind artists. After enduring closed theatres, on-line learning and untold cancelled events, it was a privilege to give them time to shine and be honoured for their achievements.

Private Master Class with Hannah Mae Cruddas of Canada's Ballet Jörgen, 2020
Even during quarantine 2020 and social dis-dancing, Conservatory dancers were learning and growing. During this livestream master class, we were thrilled to learn excerpts of Ballet Jörgen's production of Anne of Green Gables, from Hannah Mae -- the originator of the role of Anne, herself! Everyone left inspired and motivated!

Family Day Mid-Winter Celebration of Dance, 2020
Our Family Day tradition of sharing dance continued, as the entire school and community came together to offer two, sold-out shows showcasing our dancers of all ages and abilities. Our favourite part is the showcase reverence, where we get to dance with all of our friends and loved ones in the audience. During the cold of winter, this warms our hearts!

Community Performances for Bayside Montessori School and Waterford Retirement Residence, 2020
It is our joy and privilege to share dance with our community, and bring dance to those who might not be able to easily access it. In winter, 2020, we visited friends young and old to bring some sunshine, smiles, and a few dance steps, too!

Holiday Performances and Outreach Events 2019
Our holiday season was full of wonder and sparkle for all ages! Our youngest dancers performed onstage with musician David Archibald at the Isabel Bader Centre, and our intermediate and senior dancers shared the magic of the The Nutcracker at both the Grand Theatre and the Lennox and Addington Museum through special community events!

Field Trip to the National Ballet of Canada 2019
We are always looking for opportunities to enrich our dancers' arts education. Since The Conservatory is undertaking a production of the ballet Giselle, we thought that there was no better way to learn about this iconic ballet than to see it live with the National Ballet of Canada, at the Four Seasons Centre! We were thrilled and privileged to see the performance of the season, as ballerina Greta Hodgkinson performed her final Giselle. It was a night to remember!

Culture Days 2019
Once again we were privileged to share the joy of dance with our community and celebrate all that is wonderful about the arts and culture, this time via a free public class and demonstration for all ages and abilities at the historic Newlands Pavilion, with its breathtaking views of Lake Ontario and the shoreline parks.

Conservatory Photo Day 2019
We had so much fun getting ready for our inaugural gala performance, Happily Ever After, presented at The Grand Theatre on June 23rd, 2019. We wanted to celebrate just how much our dancers achieved this year, so we started a tradition of Photo Days to commemorate our year of sharing dance with each other and growing as artists. Many thanks to parent Cheryl Longworth for donating her time and talents to capture our wonderful community!

The Conservatory at Kingston Pride
The performing arts owe a tremendous debt to the fearless, creative, generous, rebellious and compassionate LGBTQ artists and educators who have enriched humanity with their time, vision, talents and voices. Our world is better because you are in it. The Conservatory is humbled and privileged to be allies of the LGBTQ community, and proud to be the first and only Kingston dance school to march alongside them in the 30-year history of Kingston Pride.

Our Conservatory Community is Growing!
To celebrate The Conservatory's amazing first term, as well as showcase the beauty and diversity of our dance community, we held Senior and Junior photoshoots in the Fall of 2018. We are sharing some of these beautiful images here, but keep your eyes out for more to come in our marketing, promotional and social media campaigns. Thanks to True North Photography for capturing how special our dancers are, and for the dancers and families who so generously gave of their time, support and resources to support this initiative. We are so proud to dance with you!

The Conservatory at Culture Days 2018!

We had a fantastic time commemorating the one-month anniversary of The Conservatory by celebrating Culture Days 2018 with the Kingston community. We were thrilled to be selected by the City of Kingston to offer a beginner demonstration and workshop in classical dance against the backdrop of the beautiful classical architecture of City Hall. We are grateful to our intrepid team of families and dance artists; as well as photographers Edie Leishman, Cheryl Longworth and Liz Cooper who captured the grace, elegance and fun of dancers. We can't wait to do it again next year!
